Here Comes Allergy Season!
Well Spring is in the air and as you can tell so is the pollen! We've received numerous questions in regards to what are the best "Natural" alternatives to using the OTC medications, so here goes. Allergies and Allergy induced Asthma are the result of overexposure to a substance or substances that the body can longer tolerate, as a result an inflammatory response is the body's last defense. This inflammatory response is responsible for the allergy symptoms. The goal then is to reduce the body's inflammatory response. First we have to reduce any food groups that cause inflammation. Most commonly these are dairy, wheat, chocolate and sugar! (I know it hurts :)) Then we want to supplement with those substances that reduce inflammation: Omega 3's or Fish Oils work very well for this, in fact, we carry a specific formula of Fish Oil that contains a higher EPA/DHA ratio designed to reduce inflammation. Also Garlic, Ginger, and Tumeric work well also. We also want to increase our daily intake of antioxidant vitamins. These include Vitamin C and E. We have also had very good luck with Xango. Xango is mainly comprised of the Mangosteen fruit, which is one of the highest antioxidant containing fruits. Also last, but not least GET ADJUSTED!
